An Introduction to Oil Painting - Eight Weeks - Deepwell Arts, Oxford.

The eight-week course is an introduction to oil painting. It gives you the opportunity to learn the basic rules and apply them with figurative painting and then break the rules with abstract painting. You will be shown how to develop your research methods, learn how to analyse artist works through the formal elements, - line, tone, texture, etc - understand composition, colour theory, techniques in layering/glazes, as well as some more experimental methods and techniques for abstract works.

Developing Drawing Skills & Techniques Workshop

This drawing workshop is designed for adults who wish to further develop drawing skills and broaden their creative toolkit. Balancing classical techniques with some contemporary methods, this course offers an inspiring environment where you can refine technical ability while exploring new ways of seeing and creating. Whether you are looking to sharpen your observational skills or push your artistic boundaries, this course will support you in growing a more personal and thoughtful drawing practice.

Botanical Drawing and Printmaking Workshop

Sunday 22nd November 2026, 10am - 4:30pm

This workshop offers participants an exploration of botanical drawing & dry-point etching, including techniques in applying colour.     Students will investigate natural forms through observational drawing, develop drawing & expressive mark-making skills, & learn the complete dry-point etching process. Building upon these foundations, participants will experiment with chine collé & blocks of colour to enrich the overall composition. The course fosters both technical understanding & creative freedom, guiding each participant toward a collection of refined, layered botanical prints.
